At Turmec, we share the growing concerns about modern slavery and have taken action to counter it.

Our management, including all site managers, will be trained by the end of 2019, to understand the risks of forced labour and human trafficking.

The training reflects our commitment to complying with legislation on modern slavery in the countries where we operate and to do what we can in the fight against a global problem.

Although exempt from the requirements for larger companies in Ireland to publish a statement on modern slavery, we have now done so. Our subsidiaries in the UK and Australia also observe the somewhat stricter rules in those countries.

“Even before the recent, appalling media reports about the victims of human trafficking, we were aware of the responsibility all employers and businesses have to be vigilant against this risk,” said Paraic Griffin, Turmec’s Operations Director.

“We directly employ our workforce and aim to have close and long-term relationships with our supply chain, but we are not complacent. This training has raised awareness of the risk of trafficking and slavery, and we will continue to be on our guard against it.”
